Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has appealed to all the families of the state to plant at least one tree and look after it, adding that the “real armour of success of plantation drive shall be the life of a sapling and not the number of trees that are actually built.
In the second phase of the 77th State-Level Van Mahotsav, held at Manesar, Saini has termed a conservation of the environment as the moral responsibility of all and not only the government. The first phase of the campaign began on 30th July with a ceremony in the town of Karnal.
Haryana has fixed 1.40 crore saplings planting goal during this financial year under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative of Prime Minister Narenda Modi.
Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav was the chief guest and Haryana Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh, presided over the event.
To make the plantation movement a mass movement, similar plantation programmes will now be conducted in all 90 Assembly constituencies, said Saini.
The ancient Aravali hills and their ecological values have protected biodiversity, preserved water resources and provided clean air for generations, the chief minister said highlighting their importance in the conservation efforts. He urged citizens to contribute towards preserving this natural heritage for future generations.
Saini also provided details on various environmental measures taken by the state government like building 75 Namo Parks, introducing Oxy Van at district levels, establishing village Panchvati plantations under the Conservation Project, building herbal parks, and protecting 5,360 heritage trees, ₹3,000 is being provided per tree every year for their conservation under the Pran Vayu Devta Scheme.
