Sangeetha, wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, has reportedly withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed in the Chennai High Court, which has ended the legal battle.
The court dismissed the case on June 15 and set it for the next hearing date on August 7. The case is thought to have been closed, however, with the petition pulled the case has resolved itself.
Sangeetha had filed for divorce with the help of the Special Marriage Act 1954 in February 2026 from Vijay. The petition alleged adultery, mental cruelty, desertion and neglect and that the “marriage has irretrievably broken down.”, the reports said.
According to the petition, Sangeetha learned in 2021 of Vijay’s alleged extra-marital relationship with actress. It also alleged that it knew the relationship would end but didn’t and the relationship was meant to cause her emotional suffering which eventually impacted on her marriage.
In the filing, Vijay was said to have increasingly separated himself from the family; not included her in professional or public events and not providing her any emotional, physical or financial support.
In 1998, Vijay and Sangeetha were registered in the United Kingdom and in 1999 they were registered, traditional style, in Chennai. The couple is blessed with two children Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.
Rumours had been swirling that they were in a relationship for months since Sangeetha quit from all public appearances, accompanying Vijay. But Vijay nor Sangeetha took public comment on the rumour prior to filing a divorce petition.
