Madhya Pradesh Congress dissolves all cells, Departments ahead of major organisational revamp

The Madhya Pradesh Congress has officially announced a big reorganization of all its departments, cells and units throughout the State with immediate effect. This was done at the behest of senior party leaders in New Delhi where State in-charge Harish Chaudhary issued the official order.

In the process of restructuring, the party’s media department, the Minority Congress, the SC Congress and the Tribal Congress have been abolished, with over 40 departments being dissolved as well. The shift is planned for changes to the party’s system in preparation for the next political challenges.

However, some key organisational bodies will continue to function without any changes. These include Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), District Congress Committees, Youth Congress, Volunteer Corps, Women’s Congress and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). Further, the Tribal Affairs Committee, chaired by Umang Singhar, and the Youth Affairs Committee, led by Priyavrat Singh, will continue their work.

During the revamp, the Congress leadership will announce a new organisational structure in the coming weeks.

Responding to the development, BJP spokesman Ajay Singh Yadav said that the development reflected increasing fractiousness amongst the Congress. He accused the party leadership in the past of not trusting its own leaders and members, and that the party had committed irregularities in organisational appointments. Yadav spoke against “money and costly gifts” being used to tempt offices in the party and insisted the same would now be able to be done with the next reorganisation.

The Congress has not replied to the BJP’s allegations so far.
