Twelve were injured in a Delhi-bound Air India flight that was hit by mid-air turbulence on Tuesday. According to reports, the 12 people injured on board included two crew members who sustained injuries along with some damages to the aircraft due to turbulence.
Confirming the incident, Air India in a statement said that, flight AI-379 operating from Phuket to Delhi on August 4th experienced a brief turbulence-related event during cruise, resulting in a momentary change in altitude. The statement informed that the aircraft had safely landed at the Delhi airport and all the passengers and crew were disembarked.
There were around 134 passengers on board the aircraft.No serious injuries as of now have been reported. In the same statement, the airline officials also said that minor injuries requiring medical assessment were reported during the turbulence. “The affected have been taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and care by Air India’s airport team and medical personnel, the statement added”.
“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain Air India’s highest priority. We are providing all necessary support to those affected and are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as part of the investigation,” the airline asserted.
Passengers on board said that a sudden altitude drop caused a jerk throwing them off their seats.
