Washington: The world needs the cooperation of the Chinese government to trace the origins of Covid-19 and prevent future pandemic Outbreak, two leading U.S. disease experts said Sunday.
In support of the probe, Scott Gottlieb, a commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration in the Trump administration who now sits on the board of Pfizer Inc. said, information to support the theory that the SARS-CoV-2 virus may have escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China, has increased.”
In a news briefing, he said,” China hasn’t provided evidence to disprove that theory, while the search for signs that the virus emerged from wildlife hasn’t yielded results.”
Almost a year and a half since the first case was first detected spreading in a seafood market in Wuhan, China, the precise origins of the Outbreak remain obscure. Scientists have hypothesized that it most likely spread from wild animals to humans. The idea that the virus may have accidentally escaped from a research lab, long promoted by some Republicans, has gotten renewed attention from Biden.
After President Joe Biden’s statement to enhance the ‘origin probe’ in the origin of the virus, Chinese officials have rebutted the Wuhan Lab theory. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian on 27 May dismissed Biden’s inquiry as an attempt to engage in “stigmatization, political manipulation, and blame-shifting.”
