A brief spell of chaos broke out at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday after a woman threw a blue ink-like liquid at Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke while he was addressing a gathering at the protest site.
The event took place at an open gathering, putting the programme under some disruptions. However, when thrown towards Dipke, crowds rushed towards the stage, causing a few minutes of din and confusion, until matters were surrounded.
Dipke later posted a video of the situation on X and commented on the situation with “Blue is my colour… Jai Bhim!” It was as if it was being alluded to the blue color which has been associated with the Ambedkarite movement and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s followers.
The identity of the woman who had the incident has not yet been officially confirmed but the motive behind her action is still not known. There was no immediate information on whether she was detained by the police or questioned by security personnel present at the protest site.
The protest at Jantar Mantar was a protest by a party known as Cockroach Janata party against the NEET-UG paper leak and other public concerns. Elected party officials, supporters, and activists from various places had converged for the event.
The programme was carried out after a temporary stop but eventually went back on after some time. Video footage will be watched by authorities to figure out what happened in order and evaluate if there is a need for any additional action. There were no reports of injuries in the incident.
One of the designated protest locations of Delhi and often the venue of demonstrations by political parties, social activates and organizations from all over the country, Jantar Mantar is the place.
