The discussion on no-confidence motion was of great consequence and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, put up an impressive defence of his government, and challenged the attacks launched by the Opposition on the party, pointing to its performance and mandate from the voters.

In the debate, Sai pointed out that the no-confidence motion was not against the Govt rather it was against the mandate of the people of Chhattisgarh. The folks have time and again asserted their trust in the ruling party in the Assembly polls, the elections to Urban local bodies and Lok Sabha polls, the Chief Minister said, referring to the results of the recent Assembly elections, Lok Sabha polls and Urban local body elections won by the BJP.

Vishnu Deo Sai responded to the condemnation of the Opposition, emphasising the development strides achieved by his government and its dedication towards development and good governance. He too slammed the lapse of the previous government, saying the present government had been working on honoring public expectations by adopting policies of transparency and people.

The Chief Minister’s tone in the speech was very strong, and some political analysts pointed out that he responded to the no-confidence motion with great confidence. He was hailed by members of the ruling BJP, and from the Opposition’s side, continued allegations against the government from them.

A Parliamentary no confidence motion is a constitutional device which enables the Opposition to challenge that government retains the support of legislative assembly. But the BJP government enjoy a clear-cut majority in Chhattisgarh Assembly.

Both sides gave statements, with Government and Opposition exchanges happening at the treasury benches on various issues concerning governance, public welfare, and direction of the political front of the state. After the discussion, it is expected that the Assembly will decide the no-confidence motion.
