Ashok Dinda, the former Indian fast bowler, has described Rohit Sharma as a legend of the Indian game and if he is thinking of stepping back from the international cricket circuit, there will be a sense of his absence with the team.

Rohit has been in the speculation camp ahead of the third ODI with England at Lord’s, but the club has not officially said anything about him’s next course of action.

Responding to the speculation, Dinda said that Rohit’s contribution to Indian cricket was amazing. Despite the controversies of his power lurking in his back pocket, he was highly responsible for India’s ICC glory and loading India with trophies won by the opener for the country.

Dinda also spoke in praise of his friendship with Rohit and stated that they started their careers in cricket on International platform at the same time. He spoke about their own experiences such as playing video games together, shopping together, going on a dinner date, and even Rohit’s wedding.

The former pacer said that if Rohit decides to hang up his boots then he would congratulate him, but Indian cricket will definitely miss out a player of his caliber.

The BCCI, meanwhile, has tried to put an end to the speculation. Board secretary Devajit Saikia has recently clarified that there has been “no” talk in the board regarding Rohit’s retirement, and has given the world a watertight rebuttal to any such speculations.

Unless there are any further changes to the veteran’s plans, all eyes would be on Rohit Sharma at Lord’s as fans look forward to seeing one of India’s best ODI batsmen perform yet another memorable game.
