A 17-year-old student was succumbed to the injuries after a speeding car rammed into his scooter on Sunday morning (July 12) on Padma Shri Shyamlal Chaturvedi Smart Road in Bilaspur. The car after the first impact lost control and collided head-on with an incoming school bus. A probe has been launched into the accident while the car has been seized by the Civil Lines Police.
The deceased has been identified as Rudra Pratap Sharma (17), son of Mukesh Sharma and a resident of Abhishek Vihar in Mangla. He was initially rushed to SIMS Hospital and later referred to Apollo Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. However, he succumbed to head injuries during treatment, said police officials. Rudra was a Class 11 student at Maharishi School. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the accident.
As per preliminary probe, the car was being driven by a minor. Police are identifying both the driver and the vehicle owner and are proceeding with further legal action.
According to eyewitnesses, Rudra was riding his scooter from the Mangla side, while the car was approaching from the opposite direction. The car reportedly had three other school students on board, and all of them are believed to be minors.
