After witnessing a sharp decline in collections on Monday, Alpha, the latest instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, registered a modest recovery at the Indian box office on Tuesday. It received estimated net of Rs 4.25 crore during its fifth day with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, up from Monday when it collected around Rs 3.85 crore.

Overall, Alpha occupancy was about 19% on Tuesday, while night shows fared reasonably at almost 30%, based on trade tracker Sacnilk. The movie is now likely to cross the Rs 50 crore mark this week.
The recovery of the production and marketing costs, as reported, is estimated to be Rs 20 crore when it needs to gross Rs 100 crore in India. Trade analysts estimate that the film would need to gross Rs 100 crore in India and an estimated Rs 150 crore across the world. It is likely that its performance at the second weekend will be key to the overall box office performance.
Alpha, which has been directed by Shiv Rawail and written by Uday Chopra, is the first-ever film from the YRF Spy Universe to be helmed by a woman. The movie also features Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor along with a special appearance by Hrithik Roshan as War universe’s Kabir. The action scenes and Sharvari’s portrayal have been welcomed, but the script and emotional pertaining of the film has got many mixed-to-negative reviews.
