The investigation against Siya Goyal in the murder case of the Pune fort has had a new direction, as sources alleged she secretly married her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary several months before the death of her fiance Ketan Agarwal.

Around 4 months ago, the couple allegedly married at the registrar’s office, according to the sources, following Ketan’s engagement with Siya. The Pune rural police now set to validate if there’s an official marriage certificate under the Special Marriage Act, a vital document in the ongoing investigation.

Investigators have also requested interviews from two of Siya’s college buddies that allegedly signed as witnesses at the time of marriage registration. Besides this, police have also tried to get hold of deleted photos from a private Instagram account that allegedly featured wedding garlands worn by Siya and Chetan.

Police believe that the alleged murder conspiracy was pushed up following a demand on Ketan to provide documents from the police to his family for their planned trip to destination wedding in Udaipur. The move could have made it harder on the accused, investigators say.

Authorities are also reviewing Chetan Chaudhary’s bank account for evidence that he may have given any type of payment to evade the mandatory public notice period under the Special Marriage Act.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are now being accused of the death of Ketan Agarwal who fell from the Lohagad Fort while trekking there in June. While the investigation is ongoing, police said the incident was part of a conspiracy, and continued to seek evidence before filing additional charges.
