A 12-year-old girl was found stuffed in a sack in a horrific incident in West Bengal yesterday near Kolkata and the man who allegedly raped and killed her was beaten to death by angry locals. The missing girl was seen out on Saturday shopping for a gift for a friend and the suspicious was attributed to four people who kidnapped her.

Her body was discovered after tension broke out in the area, when the locals demonstrated in violent fashion against the police, blocking roads, setting fire to tyres and police cars, officials said. They removed the blockade only after taking covenants from Inspector General of Police, Presidency Range, Kankarprasad Barui to take action against the culprits of the gruesome crime.Four people have been arrested relating to the girl’s death.

No special treatment would be given to any particular person and he will meet the girl’s parents tomorrow, Barui said.

According to reports, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has called the girl’s father on the phone and assured him that action will be taken on the matter.

“The chief minister called me up to take action against all the culprits, and they would be punished,” Barui told the protesters, asking them to lift the blockade.

The protesters have conveyed to the hospital after the assurance that the girl’s body may be sent for the PM examinations. Only after an autopsy, it would be known if she was sexually assaulted, police said.Just entering into the opposition, Trinamool lambasted BJP government for safety of women in West Bengal.
