Sri Lanka all-rounder Dasun Shanaka made history in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 with his first-ever double hat trick, a feat that involved him hitting the ball four times for four wickets, securing the Orcas victory over the Texas Super Kings by nine runs.

Batting first, the Seattle Orcas struggled to post a competitive total, finishing on 121/9 in their 20 overs. Victory was in reach as the Texas Super Kings looked like they had the game cornered with the target at 122, but they played with a scant 15 runs to clinch the win.

Texas looked like they were in trouble after picking up five runs off their first two deliveries, before Dasun Shanaka was given the role of the final over.

But, it was a sensational turnaround from the experienced Sri Lankan one. He bowled his way to an amazing 4 wickets in 4 balls by dismissing Donovan Ferreira on the third ball and then taking 2 wickets with the next two balls before sacking Amshi de Silva on the fourth ball of his start.

His phenomenal performance transformed an unlikely win into a proud victory for the Seattle Orcas, stupefying the Texas Super Kings.

Shanaka, in his 4 overs, bowled figures of 4/26 to make an outstanding display. Earlier in the match, he also made a valuable contribution with the bat, scoring 16 crucial runs to help his side reach a defendable total.

Shanaka, who had put on a superb allround display, was rightly declared the Player of the Match and did his bit in the cricketing game.
