It’s official! Pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chief player Travis Kelce got hitched on Friday. The dreamy wedding was held at the Madison Square Garden amid a glittering constellation of stars from around the world.
It was the most public setting one could imagine, and yet the most private celebrity wedding completely shrouded in secrecy.
The city teemed with celebrities from seemingly every corner of public life — from the actress Mariska Hargitay to the musician Ed Sheeran to the model Gigi Hadid to the comedian Adam Sandler, the wedding officiant.
The list of celebrities spotted heading into the event was dizzying: Benson Boone, Ethan Hawke, Jason Sudeikis. Each had a connection to a song or to a chapter in Swift or Kelce’s lives.
The duo were clad in Christian Dior, according to Swift’s longtime publicist. The duo chose custom-made footwear by Christian Louboutin, and the bride wore Cartier jewellery. What was news is that Swift opted not to have bridesmaid instead Swift’s brother Austin Swift served as her Man of Honour and retired American footballer Jason Kelce was the groom’s Best Man.
The event shuttered one of Manhattan’s busiest corridors and brought out Hollywood’s A-list for what was likely the bash of the century. Just as the nuptials were done, sign boards turned pink reading Just Married– the couple letting the world know about their new relationship status.
A stream of blacked-out SUVs pulled through the structure, allowing many guests to shield their arrival while streets in Midtown Manhattan were closed to traffic. Crews at the sports arena set up curtains and gazebos for the massive event.
The New York City Police (NYPD) closed the streets around the arena midday, closing them off completely to vehicles and pedestrian traffic, which were diverted by barriers.
