The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Government’s Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) to take its decision on a plea seeking removal of a video by Dhruv Rathee from the popular video-sharing platform YouTube in respect of its “misphrasing of Hindu deities” within next 15 days.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma asked the GAC to take a decision suitable to the situation within the allotted period adding that implementing directives of the court is compulsory.
It filed motion to get a video of him making a controversial claim that Lord Ram along with Goddess Sita and Lord Krishna ate meat and drank alcohol on his app YouTube removed, as well as another one uploaded by Dhruv Rathee.
The High Court also cautioned that any failure to act in accordance the directions given by it would be given serious consideration.
Justice Sharma stated that any amount of ignoring would be attended with its consequences.
The matter will now be considered by the Grievance Appellate Committee which has been directed to consider the content of the matter and come with a final decision in 15 days’ time u/s applicable law.
