The Ketan Agarwal murder took another turn for the worse following a Rs 10 crore defamation notice by advocate Aashutosh Srivastava against Siya Goyal’s brother Sahil Goyal for “defamatory” claims that allegedly damaged the advocate’s professional image.
In an interview, Sahil Goyal has stated that his family never appointed Srivastava to look after Siya Goyal’s case. He also said that the advocate might have annexed an affidavit with Siya’s signature on it through trickery, to which Srivastava has vehemently objected.
Srivastava had called the allegations “false, baseless, defamatory and misleading” and had sought Rs 10 crore in damages for the same. He also directed Sahil Goyal to retract the statements and publicly apologise for the same and offer a written assurance that his further statements would not be made to this effect in the future.
The controversy also came in court on Monday as Srivastava appeared before the Vadgaon Maval court claiming to be representing Siya Goyal and presented a vakalatnama signed by her. But, Siya told the court that the legal representative for her was advocate Vipul Dushing and the advocate concerned belongs to her family.
Earlier, Sahil Goyal had said that he had appointed advocate Vipul Dushing and had even submitted an affidavit before the court to confirm. He also alleged that Srivastava threatened the family and the natural rights of Siya’s family were not respected.
Reacting to the furore Srivastava said his associates had made written approach to the girl and she had consented to them representing her.
The legal battle is ongoing while the investigation into the sensational murder case, in which Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary are accused of conspiratory killing of Siya’s fiancé Ketan Agarwal when he was pushed from a cliff near a fort in Pune, continues.
