A huge fire on the 21st floor of a residential tower in Aranaya Society, Noida’s Sector 119, has left residents panicked on Monday. Thick smoke and flames were rising on the building as firefighters ran in.
Preliminary reports indicate that the fire could have ignited from an explosion in an A/C unit. But no details are known about the fire at this stage, officials added, pointing out that details of the exact cause will definitely be known after a detailed investigation.
Following the alert, about six fire tenders were sent to the scene and the attack on the fire commenced promptly thereafter. Members of the fire department efforts were employed to extinguish fire and at the same time rescue personnel.
There were immediate no reports of residents being trapped in the building, authorities said. Rescue personnel have been removing occupants due to precaution and emergency workers are keeping a watch on the situation.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and ordered quick rescue and relief operations. He directed “maximum alertness” among the district administration and emergency response personnel, and urged them to speed up their firefighting efforts and to immediately give medical attention to any person who gets injured in the process.
The CM also directed the officials to keep a “close check” on the situation till the overall operation is completed and normalcy is restored.
The accident has come few weeks after two fire incidents have been reported in residential societies of Noida. The fires in the high-rise apartments in Sector 74 and Sector 52 earlier this month have sparked an altogether new concern over fire safety in multi-storey residential building complexes in the city.
Firefighting is to be completed at which point the authorities are expected to investigate in detail to determine the exact cause of the latest blaze.
