Eight individuals locked up after allegations of embezzlement around donations gathered at Ayodhya Ram Temple. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered by UP police after a complain was made by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The FIR states that eight persons have been named as suspects including six persons who were associated with the temple who were in charge of collecting cash offerings. The CCTVs captured the accused in the money donation counting process apparently embezzling the money, sources said.
The accused are Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Ramshankar Mishra, Ramashankar Yadav, Manish Yadav, Subhash Chandra Srivastava and Karunesh Pandey. According to reports, the possible depletion is between 7 crore and 7.5 crore rupees which has yet to be confirmed officially.
The topic was put in the light of politics following allegations of irregularities in donation money at the temple raised by the Samajwadi Party. Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had stated that the crores of rupees gathered by the devotees have disappeared and demanded a probe into the incident by a court of law.
At first, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust appealed to the government to probe the matter and get to the bottom of it to address the rumours it said were spreading on social media platforms attacking the image of the temple and hurting the sentiments of devotees.
After receiving the complaint, police registered a case, arresting all eight of these accused. Burglars are currently being investigated regarding how much they may have stolen, who was responsible for the theft and recovery of the funds in question.
