After Brazil’s triumph over Scotland, kicking them to a 3-0 quarter-final win to advance to the round of 16 before the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Brazil star Neymar showered praise on Argentina captain Lionel Messi, describing him as a “great friend” of the former.
“He is good on the field, imagine him off it. He’s a great friend.” The Brazilian star Neymar explained in his comments, released by DSPORTS, that he is dear to me.
The friendship between the two football titans started their time at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017, when both the players were on successful terms with the club. They worked in harmony with Luis Suarez to create one of football’s most dangerous attacking combinations, and they won eight big trophies in their football dreams, including a UEFA Champions League, two La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey titles. They have since returned to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021-23, clinching two Ligue 1 championships and the Trophee des Champions.
Brazil’s team was dominant in the game that Scotland missed. Vinicius Junior had his turn to shine with a first-half brace backed by a further goal just before the interval. Matheus Cunha scored in the second half to give Brazil a 3-0 win.
On the agency side of the ball, the clash was a disastrous one as Vinicius replicated Rivaldo and Ronaldo Nazario’s example from 2002 by managing to score in all of the Brazilians’ first three games of the World Cup.
Brazil, meanwhile, finished group C with seven points and went head-to-head with Morocco in the Round of 32.
