At the end of a stellar stint in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the young Indian woman bowler Shree Charani is confident of securing the top spot in the world rankings of women T20I bowlers.
The left-arm spinner got to the top of ICC list due to his match-winning sort of performances for the Indian team. Charani has achieved an impressive 10 wickets in three World Cup appearances, to become the top wicket taker in the tournament. In her most recent series against South Africa, tipped beside Smith’s wicket, she took England spinner Linsey Smith out of second to climb up to third place.
Charani opened this World Cup with a 3/21 and had a great game against the Netherlands, to see her bowlers bring down 4/19 in India’s thrashing of the Netherlands. She then backed it up with another match against South Africa which had a strong effect on the Indian side even though they lost the match and got their first defeat of the tournament.
The Delhi Capitals spinner is also on an equal wicket count with Poonam Yadav, who picked up the same number of wickets in the 2020 edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup.
Several changes have also been brought about in the latest ICC rankings. Robin England’s Charlie Dean rose to second place and Sophie Ecclestone to fourth. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu didn’t just move up the all-rounder rankings – it was elevated into the top ten by South Africa star Marizanne Kapp following her match winning display against India.
