The biggest player transfer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history is about to create a new equation before the next season of IPL 2027, as Rishabh Pant relocates to Delhi Capitals while Kuldeep Yadav joins Lucknow Super Giants.
The return of Rishabh Pant is a homecoming for the team he has spent nine seasons in between 2016 and 2024. During his first stint with Delhi Capitals, the wicketkeeper-batter became the face of the franchise, making a record 111 appearances and leading the side in 43 matches across four seasons from 2021 to 2024.
The explosive batter has now made history after Lucknow Super Giants had picked him up for a record price of ₹27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. However, Pant will return to Delhi Capitals with a new deal that includes a lower figure of ₹15 crore per season.
Kuldeep Yadav, meanwhile, will move to Lucknow Super Giants after his five-year tenure with Delhi Capitals, where he can excel with a left arm wrist spinner bowling style. Kuldeep has amassed 72 wickets in 65 matches in the tournament while aiding the bowling attack of the DC, since his debut in 2022.
Kuldeep is one of the top white ball spinners in India and will continue to work at LSG’s existing contract price of ₹13.5 crore.
With the blockbuster deal set to be in the works, it is anticipated that both of these teams will see a significant impact as they enter the preparations for the upcoming IPL 2027.
