Two people lost their lives and 16 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident involving a lorry and a bus service by APSRTC in Ultra Deluxe class that occurred in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh during the early hours of Monday morning.

The accident allegedly happened from 1:00 am to 1:15 am around Udumvaripalli village in the Pullampeta mandal. This bus was on its way from Tirupati to Kadapa when it collided with the oncoming lorry. This severely damaged several seats on the right side of the bus resulting in multiple injuries as well as casualties.

Authorities stated there was a death and one student was killed in the accident. Around 27 passengers were reportedly travelling on the bus at the time of the accident. Sixteen passengers and the injured lorry driver were taken to the Rajampet Government Hospital as well as local hospitals for treatment.

AP transport minister M. Ramprasad Reddy voiced his sorrow for the accident and condolences to the relatives of the dead. He has asked authorities to ensure that all injured passengers are provided with the most suitable medical assistance desired and asked authorities to undergo higher medical centres if required on critically injured victims.

The minister then examined the state of the injured, and requested detailed information on the condition of the bus, lorry and existing road safety measures. The need for better preventive measures to prevent such accidents in future was highlighted by him.

Police have started legal action and are probing the circumstances that led to the crash. Other information is anticipated as the probe continues.
