A new political tussle has broken out in the Chhattisgarh ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state on June 21. The Congress MP will attend a training camp for the party office bearers and district presidents and it is expected that the camp will be held in the presence of the Congress leader. The visit of the Congress leader has already sparked off fierce political debate between BJP and Congress about the attendance of the MP at a training camp for the party office-bearers and the district presidents.
The tension erupted when BJP ML A Purandar Mishra sparked a controversy over Gandhi’s visit with his bitter comment that a “joker” was arriving from Delhi and state would see “circus” for ten days. He also asked what would be the “Pratigya”(lessons) learnt from Rahul Gandhi with regard to the training programme to the party workers.
Reacting scathingly, former Congress MLA Vikas Upadhyay alleged Mishra was “mentally disturbed” for making such “irresponsible” remarks, calling the BJP MLA a “disaster” in the party. Only to grab political limelight, highlights, to attract the attention, statements are coming out of Mishra’s mouth, wrote Upadhyay.
The Congress is starting its 10-day organisational training camp in Abhanpur, the heated exchange. The programme is designed to bolster the party’s grassroots network, and to ready the leadership for future political struggles.
Sachin Pilot, among other senior Congress leaders, could be in attendance during the sessions. Rahul Gandhi will be in the camp on 21st June and will be interacting with party workers for some hours, addressing organisational issues.
Gandhi’s visit has gained political momentum in Chhattisgarh as both sides start fueling fire with rhetoric.
