Protests erupted in Iran after a memorandum of understanding was reached with the US to bring peace to the Middle East region, with people calling Iranian leaders Abbas Araghchi and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf “compromisers”.
“Have some shame, leave the country alone! Qalibaf, Araghchi, what about the blood of our Leader?” protestors chanted, referring to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader who was killed in US-Israel strikes at the start of the war.
Reports have been making rounds the US President Donald Trump, his deputy JD Vance and Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will electronically sign the memorandum of understanding. “The president wanted to sign it personally because he wanted to show his dedication to the process,” a US official.

“They’re agreeing right now to eliminate the enriched stockpile,” Vance said. “And if they don’t get to a point where they agree to stop enriching, then they don’t get the other benefits of the bargain.”
In his first public remarks since the United States and Iran announced an agreement to end the Middle East war, Netanyahu said that Israeli troops would remain in Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria for “as long as necessary”. According to him the joint US-Israeli military campaign against Iran had spared his country from what he described as the Islamic republic’s threat of “nuclear annihilation”.
Iranian officials have previously indicated they prefer down-blending their highly enriched uranium inside the country under UN supervision, rather than eliminating it entirely. It remains unclear whether Vance’s comments reflect a final agreement on this point or continued disagreement between the two sides.
Meanwhile, cross firing continued between Israel and Hezboallah on Monday despite the agreement reached between the United States and Iran, with both sides reporting military action in southern Lebanon.
