Keeping up with the trend, Meta Inc has launched a range of football-inspired features across its social media platforms. The new features are intended to keep the fans in touch with the tournament, players, teams and the conversation, the company said.
The new feature will be rolled out on Threads, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. The social media giant will also be working with broadcasters, football teams, players, creators and commentators to provide match-related content, live discussions, scores and interactive experiences throughout the tournament.
A new Live Chats feature will be added to Threads that enable users to access instant football conversations before, during, and after games. Football personalities, creators and commentators will be the hosts of the conversations.
On Instagram, users can create Reels and Stories from broadcasters and featured creators and national teams. A new AI-generated “Goal!” voice effect to direct messaging will also be added, which will play when voice messages are sent.
Age old messaging platform, Facebook gets a new football mode which will get activated on double tapping the top of the Facebook logo on the users Feed. Once activated, football-inspired reactions, surprises, and an interactive football mini-game pop up. According to Meta, the feature is designed to give the match day fans an “immersive experience. Another engaging feature is AI-powered ‘Wear It’. Users will be able to virtually ‘try on’ their favourite national team’s jersey and share the images as profile pictures, Stories or regular posts.
Whats App partners with Adidas for special features. The football emoji will be temporarily changed into the official match ball of the tournament Trionda. Football fans will also have their say in the creation of video call effects and receive special packs of stickers. Meta is also making a new football section in WhatsApp, offering scores, team information, tournament updates, and material from official sources.
Besides adding to new features, Meta is also amping up its safety measures throughout all of its applications to assist stop ticket scams, phishing, harassment and abuse throughout the World Cup interval.
