The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been strongly challenged by Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari for choosing a third candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections to split the party and thereby jeopardizing democracy.

In the political frenzy ahead of the elections, Patwari contended that BJP’s action was with the intent of horse-trading and influencing legislators. He said that he was not just a regular political move, but a strategy, and it was a “tackling of the electoral process.”

Patwari had said that in the BJP’s decision, there had been an attempt to build political clout not via electoral clout but the other way. He stated that the Congress had conducted an intensive membership process relating to its electoral approach and candidates’ selection before it decided to go into the fray.

The Congress chief announced that in the midst of the preparations ongoing by the BJP, their Rajya Sabha candidate was set to become the winner of the election. His forecast of an election that creates surprising political changes has proved to be accurate so far.

Patwari spoke in detail about BJP’s plot, but he didn’t comment on the speculations over Congress action to stabilise its lawmakers before the voting process starts.

The additional candidate challenged by BJP and the possibility of cross voting as well as political realignment in Rajya Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh has created a lot of hue and cry. The two parties are closely observing the situation with the days running out till voting.
