Northeast Railway’s bid call for the two Road Over Bridges (ROB) construction projects in Uttar Pradesh is part of a ambitious upgraded infrastructure for improving transportation efficiency and safety. The execution is estimated to cost crores of rupees around ₹93.8 crores and will help in decongest the two busy railway level crossings in Lucknow Division, thereby allowing easier flow of traffic on both the roads and Railways.
The proposed project for the construction of the two lane Road Over Bridge and a Limited Height Subway (LHS) to replace Level Crossing No. 295/A between Sarju and Jarwal Road railway stations involves the crossing of two 30 m high bridges. The upgrade of Level Crossing No. 300/Spl between Chauka Ghat and Burhwal station is being replaced by a second two lane Road Over Bridge. The frequent trains services for these crossings are creating problems for commuters, as there is a lot of traffic interruption.
The project will bring a host of advantages to the roads, such as better road access, less delay at the railway crossing, and increased road and rail safety for both drivers and passengers. The new structures will reduce the risk of accidents, enhance traffic flow and make the region much safer by separating road traffic from train traffic.
The project is hoped to help boost economic activity in the region due to the faster and more reliable infrastructure for transport of people, goods and operators. The ROBs will also serve as infrastructure investments to enhance the area’s region by modernizing the key transport corridors and removing congestion from sensitive corridors.
Upon completion, the bridges will offer the city of Uttar Pradesh long-term congestion relief and play a role in safer and efficient passenger transportation through the area.
