The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for some districts of Rajasthan as the weather condition is going to undergo some drastic changes in the next 48 hours. An orange alert has been issued in Jaipur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur due to an active western disturbance. The current weather prediction suggests that the state will be battered by strong winds, thunderstorms, rain, and even hailstorms in some parts of the country on June 3 and 4.
A new circulation system is being identified in northwest Rajasthan, and it is contributing to the increase of moisture in the air, the IMD meteorologists have reported. This is expected to bring out weather activity in a very abrupt and intense way over several areas of the state, causing dust storms, lightning activity, and bursts of rain.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for three districts and issued a yellow alert for several other districts (Karauli, Nagaur, Tonk, Bundi, and Kota), alerting to severe weather conditions. In some places, wind speed can be up to 70 kmph and there is a likelihood of damage to property and disruption to everyday life.
The situation in the past 24 hours was mostly clear skies with strong sunshine and stable temperature in Rajasthan. Maximum temperatures during the period varied from 40°C to 43°C in western districts of Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Phalodi and Jaisalmer whereas other districts recorded less than 40°C.
Even with the storms coming in, expected weather relief will be temporary from current heatwave-like weather conditions. The system is expected to persist through June 6 with the potential for rain and thunderstorms in the region, according to experts. The public has been warned to watch out for peaks in wind and lightning activity.
