With skyrocketing costs of petrol and diesel and with the need to conserve fuel becoming the centre of discussion in the public domain, a unique attempt by Madhya Pradesh has hit the spotlight. A man from the Datia district gave up his motorcycle and purchased a bicycle, and embarked upon an individual awareness drive from Datia to Delhi, inspired to utilise his valuable fuel, after seeing an advertisement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The man whose name is Roshan Singh Rajput stays at Ranipura village in the Indergarh area of Datia district in Madhya Pradesh. He has dubbed his campaign the ‘Modi Appeal Yatra,’ and it is an attempt to spread awareness about conserving petrol/diesel and also to advocate environmental protection.
Roshan Singh started his bike tour from Datia’s iconic Pitambara Peeth. He will end up at the India Gate in Delhi, where he would like to spread more awareness these days.
The extraordinary thing about the trip is that Roshan is going on his own by bicycle and has never done a long-distance ride before. His inclination towards admiration for Prime Minister Modi and patriotism guided him to take the tough road of this journey, he says.
At every stop of the yatra, Roshan gives out messages on reducing fuel consumption and protecting the environment from the small speakers. He said that to help save money, boost Indian currency, and bolster the economy, citizens should do their part by cutting down on unnecessary fuel consumption, which would result in the impact of this appeal by the Prime Minister.
After listening to Prime Minister Modi’s call on fuel conservation, Roshan made a decision to do something for the people by quitting his motorcycle in favor of a bicycle, he said.
Others have traveled along his way and been glad of his effort, and many have praised the message behind his journey. A few residents stated they would do everything they could to try to adopt greener methods and minimize the use of fuel.
The wacky campaign has now spanned the region and joined “rumors” as a topic of discussion. In an era where consumers are mindful of fuel costs and inflation, Roshan Singh’s pedaling experience is all set to represent a move towards sustainability, fuel efficiency, and environmental awareness.
