Chhindwara. Tragic news is emerging from the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The drowning of two young men in a deep pond at the Kohliya Opencast Mine, which falls under the Junnardev police station area, has sent shockwaves through the area. The missing men have been identified as Ayush and Raja. The local village is mourning the tragic incident.

According to preliminary information, a group of about 8 to 10 young men had arrived at the Kohliya opencast mine to celebrate a birthday party. During the party, some of the young men went into a deep pond within the mine to bathe. Unable to gauge the depth of the water, Ayush and Raja plunged into the deep water and drowned. Seeing their friends drowning, other friends immediately informed the police and local administration.

SDRF’s rescue operation continued at night

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police and administrative team immediately reached the spot and the Home Guard and SDRF team were called for rescue. The rescue team searched for the two youths in the pond till late night, but could not find any trace of them. According to administrative officials, the pitch darkness of the night and the extreme depth of the pond remained the biggest challenge in the rescue operation. The search operation had to be stopped at night, which was resumed with full alertness in the morning.
