According to Donald Trump, as President of the United States, he has been reaching out to multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Jordan, encouraging them to sign the Abraham Accords. He stated that these agreements are part of a larger vision for the Middle East and will provide an incredible opportunity to build the “Strongest & Most United region possible.”

Not only did he “Mandatorily Request” that all countries immediately enter into the Abraham Accords, but he also named Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan as specific examples of countries he requested to be now part of the group. There is even a possibility that if current diplomatic efforts are able to produce positive results, Iran could be included in the Abraham Accords in the future.

The Abraham Accords are an agreement brokered primarily by the United States Government during President Donald Trump’s first year of Presidency that provides for the normalization of relations between the State of Israel and several Arabic Countries. The first two signs were from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain in 2020, which enabled both countries to have diplomatic and economic relations with the State of Israel.

While both Egypt and Jordan have already had normalization agreements with Israel considerably longer than both the UAE and Bahrain, respectively, and such agreements were completed many years ago (Egypt 1979, Jordan 1994). At this time, neither Egypt nor Jordan was originally included under the framework of the Abraham Accords being established by the United States.

During an interview, Trump also expressed optimism that inviting additional nations into the agreement could create a significant new economic/political power in the region. He continued by saying that perhaps, if Iran is able to complete its Agreement with the United States, it may be added to this incredible coalition of nations.

“In my mind it would certainly be a great privilege to have Iran join this incredible coalition”, he stated.

In addition to the comments made during his interview, Trump then stated that he has instructed his representatives to work on expanding the number of countries participating in the agreements. He said that the expanded Abraham Accords will provide for a unified, stable and economically successful Middle East in a fashion that has never existed anywhere else in the world.
