Meta quietly launched a new contender into the social media world with Reddit in its foresight. Discovered without a warning on the iOS App Store. Resembling features of Reddit, Forum would now be the new discussion panel for social media users. The app instead of building a network from scratch, smartly repurposed its most durable asset, Facebook Groups.

Meta’s first standalone app, Forum was first spotted by the social media consultant Matt Navarra and launched before any official announcement. Currently, available in select regions.

Users can sign in using their Facebook account, which loads their groups, profile and activity. The Forum, like standard Facebook app allows users to make posts with a nickname. Groups can co-exist while content shared on Forum remains visible in Facebook groups. The app focuses on conversations within groups rather than trending content. The AI powered Ask tab lets users post question and answers compiled from discussions across different groups. The App also features an admin AI assistant to help administrators manage groups and content.
