Varanasi. Another arrest has been made in the murder case of Chandrakant Rath, the personal assistant (PA) of West Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari. The CBI has arrested a coal trader from Varanasi, Vinay Rai, alias Pampum. Vinay lived in Dhanbad and ran the coal trade. Vinay’s role in providing the shooter and funding for the murder has been revealed. Vinay’s name surfaced during the interrogations of Raj and Rajkumar.
It should be noted that on May 6th, Subhendu Adhikari’s personal assistant, Chandranath Rath, was shot dead in the Madhyamgram area. It is reported that the attackers, riding in a car and on a motorcycle, chased his vehicle, stopped it, opened fire, and fled the scene. The attack occurred approximately 100 meters from his home. His driver, Buddhadeb Bera, who was driving the vehicle during the incident, was also seriously injured by gunfire.

The post-mortem report revealed that Chandranath Rath had been shot four times. Subhendu Adhikari, calling the case a completely premeditated murder, said that Rath had neither personal enmity nor political disputes. He assured the victim’s family of his support, stating that the family demands that the accused be arrested and punished swiftly.
