West Bengal: The CBI reportedly revisited the crime site in North 24 Paragans on Wednesday where the West Bengal CM aide Chandranath Rath was murdered. This is the second visit since the agency has taken over the case.
The team as per local reports, arrived with advanced 3D scanners to digitally recreate the crime scene and reconstruct the events that surrounded the murder execution. Sources added the team is creating a spatial map of the area which would help them verify witness accounts and examine the physical evidence collected from the site.
Following the state gpvernement’s request the CBI on Monday assumed charge of the case from the state police. Subsequently, an FIR was registered and a 7member team was constitued to probe the case.
So far 3 arrests, including a sharpshooter, have been made in connection with the murder. The accused identified as Mayank Raj Mishra, Vicky Maurya and Raj Singh are being questioned to determine the larger conspiracy and trace the mastermind behind the killing.
Rath was killed on May 6 at Doharia Lane in Madhyamgram while on his way back home from a party program.
