New Delhi: The Delhi police has registered an FIR after two women from the North-East reported alleged molestation and assault both verbal and physical by a group of men. The case is registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to assault, molestation, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation and acts of endangering life.
The incident that took place at 6: 30 am, May 10 outside a club in Nehru Place. As per the report, the women were having tea outside the club when two men began catcalling them. Soon after several others joined turning the incident into violence.
The complaint also stated that one of the two women was physically assaulted during which her clothes got torn. They also claimed the accused used racist remarks. In self defence, the accused were also hit with a bamboo stick while they were trying to escape added the complainant.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly blocked their path and threatened them with consequences if they shared the incident.
Further investigation is underway.
