Raipur. The weather in Chhattisgarh took a sudden turn during the past 24 hours. Rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms were recorded in many parts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain occurred at isolated places in the state, while thunderstorms and strong winds were experienced in several areas.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Raipur centre, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 41 degrees Celsius in Rajnandgaon, while the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 18.2 degrees Celsius in Ambikapur.
The capital city of Raipur recorded a maximum temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius, which were 4.0 and 4.7 degrees below normal, respectively. Raipur recorded 26 mm of rainfall till 8:30 am.
According to the Meteorological Department, 5 cm of rain was recorded in Kutru, 4 cm in Labhandih, and 3 cm in Raipur. Bhatgaon, Sariya, and Bilaigarh also received 2 cm of rain each. Bilaspur, Mohla, Sarangarh, Mana-Raipur, Lormi, Kunkuri, and Bagicha recorded 1 cm of rain each.
According to meteorologists, a cyclonic circulation is active over northeastern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas at 0.9 kilometers above sea level. A cyclonic circulation is also present over northern Telangana and surrounding areas at an altitude of 1.5 kilometers. The influence of this system is contributing to the weather in Chhattisgarh.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning, stating that isolated areas in the state may experience thunderstorms and strong winds of up to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Light to moderate rain is also possible in some areas.
