New Delhi: The Indian Rupee rose by 3% to 94.95 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday as trump signaled truce with Iran.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95, then gained some ground and touched an early high of 94.95, registering a gain of 23 paise from its previous low.
The rupee was later trading at 95.10 against the greenback.
Meanwhile, Gold inched higher following a drop in crude oil prices. The gold June 5 contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) opened with a gain of Rs 2,247 or 1.5 per cent at Rs 1,52,000 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 1,49,753. It gained further to touch an intraday high of Rs 1,52,182, a jump of Rs 2,429 or 1.62 per cent. Last seen, it was trading at Rs 1,51,985 with a gain of Rs 2,232 or 1.49 per cent.
The white metal on the other hand, maturing on July 3, 2026, opened higher. It started the trading session at Rs 2,49,316 against the previous close of Rs 2,44,316, a jump of Rs 5,000 or 2.04 per cent. It later advanced to touch the high of Rs 2,52,000, a gain of Rs 7,684 or 3.14 per cent.
Stocks leapt globally as oil prices fell on expectations that bottled-up supply from the key Middle East producing region could resume flowing.
