Amritsar: Giani Raghbir Singh, former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and former Chief Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harimandir Sahib, held an important press conference today to corner the central government on sensitive issues related to Operation Blue Star of 1984. He specifically raised the issue of valuable documents and sacred copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib missing from the Sikh Reference Library.

Giani Raghbir Singh informed that he has written a letter to the country’s Home Minister, Amit Shah, demanding an official clarification on this serious matter. He said that during the 1984 military attack, not only was Sri Akal Takht Sahib severely damaged, but precious heritage related to Sikh history also disappeared, the account of which has not been found to this day.

The former Jathedar stated that the situation regarding the disappearance of rare handwritten Birs, Hukamnamas, and historical documents from the Sikh Reference Library remains unclear. He added that it has often been claimed that these documents were returned, while the truth appears to be the opposite. It is crucial to bring out the truth to end this confusion.

Giani Raghbir Singh strongly demanded that all investigation reports and government records related to this case be made public. He argued that the Sikh community has every right to know where the missing sacred images and documents are and in what condition they are. He reminded the central government that this is not merely a religious matter, but a deeply historical and emotional issue, involving the sentiments of the entire Sikh community. He appealed to the government to maintain complete transparency in this matter.
