Tehran: Following the ‘not satisfied’ comment of US President Donald Trump, Iran’s military headquarters has issued a warning against resumption of war with US. Stating that ‘ evidence shows US is not committed to any agreements or treaties’, military preparations are underway to what is being described as new adventures by the US.
Mohammad Jafar Asadi, deputy at the Khatam Al Anbiya Central Headquaerters, made the remarks in a statement carried by a local news agency. He claimed recent actions and statements by US officials suggest a lack of genuine commitment to diplomatic efforts. He added that the US messaging appears largely driven by media considerations, aimed at preventing a decline in oil prices and distancing itself from the situation it has created.
“The actions and statements of US officials are primarily media-driven, aimed first at preventing a drop in oil prices and second at extricating themselves from the mess they have created,” Asadi said.
Iranian officials believe they have been very flexible during the first round of negotiation held in Islamabad. However, they argue the US has not shown a reciprocal approach and has instead responded with increased pressure and more aggressive demands.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry of Iran has said “undeniable right and the solemn duty” to hold the Trump administration accountable over the US-Israeli “war of choice” against Iran. He called the conflict “a clear, unprovoked act of aggression” and urged the US public to challenge the government over “this illegal war against the nation of Iran.”
