The Special Task Force (STF) of Madhya Pradesh has made the big breakthrough in a series of extortion and threat cases that have been conducted under the name of Lawrence Bishnoi Gang. Based on intelligence leads, the Bhopal STF made a breakthrough in the investigation by arresting Sushila Godhra, who is based in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The accused was reportedly closely associated with an operative known as JP Dara, and reportedly, was a supporting figure in the organization of criminal actions. She is suspected to have helped in surveillance operations, video capturing, and transfer of money to those who participated in issuing threats. The investigators also found out that Sushila Godhra is the maternal aunt of JP Dara who is presently in Jaipur jail. She is also suspected as giving him mobile phones and other unlawful facilities when he was in custody.
This inquiry is due to numerous extortion threats being reported in numerous districts within Madhya Pradesh. Traders in the Tukoganj region of Indore were threatened to pay ransom in the name of Bishnoi gang. In a different incident in Bhopal, a bullion trader was reportedly requested to pay 10 crore. The same cases were reported at Khargone where a farmer-business person was attacked in a shooting case. The gang allegedly took pride in the attack using the social media.
A builder too was demanded 10 crore extortion in Ashoknagar. The name of an operative called Harry Boxer has resurfaced in these cases many times.
After the increased rate of this type of organized crimes, the case was referred to the STF by the Director General of Police to a special investigation team. The authorities indicate that the accused is still being interrogated and could result in more outrageous disclosures.
