Delhi Air Pollution: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has taken strict action against Delhi’s air pollution. Based on inspection reports, the CAQM ordered the closure of nine units and sealed the DG sets of 18 units. Show-cause notices (SCNs) have been issued to 11 units and environmental compensation (EC) has been proposed for six units.
The CAQM’s Enforcement Task Force met. The meeting reviewed reports from 162 inspections and enforcement actions conducted in the National Capital Region (NCR) between March 27 and April 10. Flying squads inspected 25 construction and demolition sites, 28 industrial sites, and 109 sites related to diesel generator sets.
It found 64 violations, 42 of which involved diesel generator sets. The Enforcement Task Force (ETF) also cited special enforcement drives conducted on April 7 in the Gurugram Municipal Corporation area, including inspections related to reducing road dust. Several areas were inspected and 126 violations were detected. The concerned municipal officials have been directed to take necessary corrective action, including issuing SCNs for repeated violations.
