Mumbai: The golden combination of actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan is back in business. After creating a buzz for their highly awaited collaboration, horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has managed to score big at the box office ever since its release on April 17, 2026. Having been away from each other for 15 years since their last hit, Khatta Meetha, their latest collaboration has shown how their “vintage magic” continues to captivate audiences.

Bhooth Bangla started its journey with a whopping collection of Rs 23.90 crore from around the globe. The movie earned Rs 12.25 crore from India alone on the opening Friday; however, when added to the good collections of Rs 3.50 crore from its previews in theatres on Thursday, its domestic gross stands at Rs 15.75 crore. Bhooth Bangla performed well overseas as well, contributing Rs 5 crore towards its global collections. It has managed to finally knock off Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge after its reign for four weeks.

According to trade analysts, the success of the movie can be attributed to the nostalgic association with the Akshay Priyadarshan teaming up and the brilliant cast consisting of Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. Despite varied reviews, which include labeling the script as being “recycled,” the huge attendance witnessed at night shows indicates that family spectators are enjoying the “laughter riot” on the weekend. As there is little competition, the collections of Bhooth Bangla are poised for a sharp rise from Sunday
