Bhopal: In a major offensive against the illegal trade of cooking gas, the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department of Madhya Pradesh has launched a state-wide crackdown on the black marketing of LPG cylinders.
Acting under the Essential Commodities Act, authorities have conducted rigorous inspections across 2,840 locations to date. This massive operation resulted in the seizure of 3,691 gas cylinders that were being diverted or sold through unauthorized channels.
Key Highlights of the Enforcement Drive:
- LPG Inspections: Out of the 2,840 sites investigated, serious irregularities led to the filing of 11 FIRs.
- Fuel Station Scrutiny: The department extended its oversight to the petroleum sector, inspecting 734 retail outlets (petrol pumps) across the state.
- Legal Action: While the majority of fuel stations were found compliant, one FIR has been registered against a retail outlet for violations.
This proactive measures by the state government aims to stabilize the supply chain and ensure that essential fuel resources reach genuine consumers at regulated prices, rather than being siphoned off by organized black marketers. Management confirmed that the “zero-tolerance” policy toward hoarding and illegal sales will continue across all districts.
