Voting began at 7 a.m. in all 140 seats in Kerala. Kerala’s 27.1 million voters will choose their leader from among 890 candidates. Long queues of voters have been seen at polling booths across Kerala since morning, with people waiting in line for hours for their turn. The Election Commission of India was active on social media throughout the day to motivate people to go and vote.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan casts his vote. In Kannur, Kerala, the state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reached RC Amala Basic Upper Primary School to cast his vote. Meanwhile, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar cast his vote at Jawahar Nagar Nursery and LP School in Thiruvananthapuram. BJP State President Chandrasekhar is waiting in a queue to cast his vote at a polling booth in Thiruvananthapuram. During this, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that everything is important. Every voter should come out. Today it is their duty, it is their fundamental right to come and exercise their right to vote on the future of the state.
Kerala Union Minister Suresh Gopi cast his vote at the Guruvayur Devaswom English Medium School in Thrissur. He said, “This is a very important day for Kerala. The BJP has performed remarkably well. They have touched every aspect of a democratic election campaign strategy. They have reached every area, down to the last point. Now we just await the results. You know very well what will change before and after the elections.”
In Assam, 722 candidates from 41 parties are contesting elections for 126 seats. Whereas in Kerala, 2.71 crore voters will choose their leader from 890 candidates. In Puducherry, 294 candidates from 20 parties are trying their luck. More than 10 lakh voters will vote for the first time in all three states. For the first time in 70 years, a CM is contesting elections for a hat-trick in Kerala. In Assam, BJP is trying to form the government for the third consecutive time with the help of Himanta Biswa Sarma. Whereas in Puducherry, N. Rangasamy, who left Congress, is trying to capture power for the fifth time.
