David Warner, former Australian opener, was caught driving under the influence of alcohol after being flagged down when he was conducting a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney. Reportedly, the 39-year-old had parked his car prior to the checkpoint, yet police officers went on to his car and ran a breath test, which revealed that he was above the legal drinking limit.
Warner was then arrested and taken to the Maroubra Police Station where he was reported to have a blood alcohol reading of 0.104. He has been released since and he is supposed to be in court next month to take the charges.
The accident occurs when Warner is actively engaged in franchise cricket. He is now heading Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. Warner had made a brief visit to Australia on a break between games and is now preparing to go back to Pakistan in advance of his next match against Pakistan, which is scheduled on April 9.
Although he has retired in international cricket in 2024, Warner remains a key player in T20 leagues worldwide, such as the Big Bash League in Australia. He has lately given a good showing with the Sydney Thunder having scored 433 runs in eight games and has become the top run scorer in the team by a great margin.
Warner has also confirmed that he will be coming back to the Thunder next season and said that he was confident that the squad would come back stronger after a difficult campaign.
