Tuesday Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, directed a comprehensive probing investigation into a set of fire reported incidents at construction sites in Amaravati, sparking fears of a conspiracy behind the incidents. The recent fire was ignited late Monday night at a stockyard of a mass infrastructural company engaged in constructing the Head of Department (HOD) towers in Rayapudi village. Approximately, 22 lots of permanently lubricated bundles of PVC pipes (used in construction works) were lost in the fire.

Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal who had gone to the site said that firefighting teams had arrived on the scene and were in the act of putting the fire in check. The initial inspections indicate that the fire was started close to a huge stack of PVC pipes, but the cause of the fire is still being studied. On Tuesday, Jindal with Additional SP A.T.V. Ramana Kumar went to the location again to have an in-depth look into the incident with the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) specialists conducting an inspection of the affected site.

This is the second of its kind in two weeks. Another fire identical to this on March 11 gutted PVC pipes worth lakhs of rupees along the seed access road of the capital region. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha pointed out that the frequent fires bring about suspicions of malicious plans of vested interests to sabotage the progress of Amaravati and cast the state government in a negative light.

Naidu, who happened to be at a top-level evening meeting with DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, SP Vakul Jindal and the State Intelligence Chief, Mahesh Kumar Laddha, stressed that a multi-angle probe was needed to establish whether the fires were accidental or intentional, the pattern and frequency of which were suspicious and required further investigation into the events.
