Bhopal– The operations of the state’s healthcare system have been questioned again following a shocking incident at Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal. According to the family, a baby who was proclaimed dead by the hospital personnel had later been found to be alive.

The accident occurred in the middle of the night when a six-month-pregnancy woman had to come to the hospital and deliver an emergency baby. After the birth, they had the baby, and the doctors allegedly told the family that the baby had passed away. The hospital administration provided the information shortly after the procedure, leaving the family in a state of extreme devastation.

The case, however, took a dramatic turn when the family members cited that the newborn still had signs of life. The baby was reexamined after he had protested and caused a big uproar at the hospital till the time is nearly 2 a.m. The infant, as per the family, was showing signs like having a heartbeat, and this led to anger and the issue of negligence on the side of the hospital staff.

It is not the first incident in recent days at the hospital. Only two days ago, another newborn child was announced dead, and a death certificate was given. A family member later said the baby was moving and breathing, and that the incident was captured on video and presented as evidence.

The authorities in the hospital, however, argued that the baby is very premature and underdeveloped with very low birth weight, which makes the situation critical. They said that following additional investigations, the infant was still treated according to need.

The recurring cases have cast serious doubt on safety and control at the city’s largest government hospital, particularly regarding monitoring, medical procedures, and accountability. Relatives have insisted on an in-depth inquiry and severe punishment for the culprits in the event of negligence.
