Thursday, Rahul Gandhi attacked the Centre against the increase in communal tensions in Uttam Nagar, but urged people not to panic and let themselves be carried away. The head of the Congress party lamented the death of a 26 year old man, Tarun, who died after disputes among two groups of people earlier this month.

Rahul posted on X that the incident had taken a huge toll on both parties where one family was mourning a loss and another struggling. He pointed out that the common people are not interested in more violence and demanded peace and harmony in the region.

Attacking the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rahul said such tensions are frequently exploited politically. He alleged that the national capital was being generated into riot-like conditions and that the government was busy spending time on the communal rifts, rather than concentrating on major national matters.

The political interactions have not stopped the authorities to increase security in the area. Delhi Police has reinforced its operations at the Uttam Nagar and surrounding areas especially before the Eid festivities. Some of these measures are patrolling more, barricading, surveillance on the roof and making of several security checkpoints.

Peace meetings have also been held by the officials and they have requested residents to co-exist. Leaders on both sides are encouraging moderation as tension is still delicate so as to make sure that the situation does not deteriorate further.
