After Air India, IndiGo flights will also become expensive from tomorrow. The country’s largest airline company has announced on Friday to impose ‘fuel surcharge’ on all domestic and international flights. After Air India, IndiGo has also given a shock. The airline has announced to impose fuel surcharge ranging from Rs 425 to Rs 2,300 on its domestic and international flights. The new prices of tickets with extra fuel charge will come into effect from 14 March at 12 midnight. This decision has been taken after the huge increase in the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East. This will be applicable on the tickets booked from 14 March.

The airline said that jet fuel prices have risen by up to 85% due to the ongoing war between Iran and the US-Israel. Consequently, surcharges ranging from ₹425 to ₹2,300 will be imposed on domestic and international flight tickets.

IndiGo said it will levy a fuel surcharge on tickets booked from March 14. The airline said, “IndiGo, India’s leading airline, is introducing a fuel charge on domestic and international routes, effective 00:01 hrs on March 14, 2026. This move is due to the ongoing geopolitical issues in the Middle East, which has led to a sharp increase in jet fuel prices. IATA’s Jet Fuel Monitor shows that fuel prices in the region have increased by more than 85%.”

The airline further stated that aviation turbine fuel constitutes a significant portion of airlines’ operating costs. This sudden and significant price increase will significantly impact the costs and network of all airlines, including IndiGo.

According to IndiGo, while a significant fare increase would be required to offset the full impact of this fuel price increase, the airline has increased the fuel charge by a relatively small amount, keeping in mind the burden on customers.

Air India has been imposing a fuel surcharge of ₹399 on domestic flight tickets since March 12. Meanwhile, fares for international flights have been increased by approximately 15%.

For routes to West Asia, the surcharge will be US$10 per ticket. For flights to Africa, the fee will increase from US$30 to US$90. For services to Southeast Asia, the surcharge will increase from US$20 to US$60.
