New Delhi: The Saket Court in New Delhi has granted two weeks’ interim bail to Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, president of Al Falah University, on money laundering charges. The court noted that Jawad’s wife is in critical condition and that a chargesheet has already been filed in the case. The court granted this bail for a limited period and it will remain in effect until further orders.

Seeking bail, Jawad told the court that his wife is suffering from stage 4 metastatic ovarian cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. The court granted him limited bail due to this serious health condition.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has indicated that it may challenge the two-week interim bail granted by a Delhi court to Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al Falah University Group. According to officials, investigations into several other aspects of the case are still ongoing and the ED believes Siddiqui may influence the investigation during this bail period. Siddiqui, who is 61 years old, was granted bail by the court on Saturday in a money laundering case. The ED has objected to this bail.

Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al Falah University Group, is accused of amassing illegal wealth through fees collected from students at the Faridabad-based educational institution and providing false information about the colleges’ accreditation and certification. Siddiqui was arrested by the ED in November 2025 and is currently in judicial custody. Siddiqui had applied for interim bail to care for his wife, who is suffering from cancer and is scheduled for chemotherapy on March 12. ED officials said the agency will soon challenge the local court’s order in the Delhi High Court.

A case has been registered in the Red Fort blast case

According to officials, the local court did not seriously consider the ED’s arguments when granting interim bail to Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui. The ED stated that an FIR has also been registered against Siddiqui under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) related to the November 10th blast in front of the Red Fort last year. The agency believes that granting bail in these cases could impact the investigation and will therefore challenge the order in the High Court.
